Hi, I’m Terrance.
I’m a Creative Type Director in-house at Monotype, and I’ve been dedicated to designing typefaces, lettering, and typography since 2008. Although I do some lettering, I’m focused on custom font projects for Monotype’s clients. Along with the font development team at Monotype, I’ve worked on fonts for: Microsoft, Google, Barnes & Noble, and Domino’s, as well as various design firms, ad agencies, and publishers. I’ve made fonts for video games, food packaging, retail signage, professional sports teams and even automobiles.
I’ve had the honor to contribute to the ubiquitous Open Sans and Segoe UI typefaces, among many others. My latest retail releases are Terry Junior, the expansive Kairos Sans family, and a connecting brush script called Monarda. I also have a few revivals like Romany, JMC Engraver and Feldman Engraver.
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Graphic Design from Grand Valley State University. I attended the Type Design short course at the University of Reading, where I focused on Greek and Cyrillic scripts. I like to continue my education and refresh my interest in type by attending conferences, workshops and lectures.
